Liverpool are in the FA Youth Cup semi final after thumping Carlisle 6-0 at Anfield last night thanks to goals from Charlie Barnett, Adam Hammill, Michael Nardiello and a Craig Lindfield hat-trick.

Liverpool took the lead twenty minutes in when Lindfield picked the ball up in the Carlisle area and comfortably placed it beyond the despairing goalkeeper.

After 30 minutes it was 2-0. The impressive Charlie Barnett ran at the Carlisle defence before hammering home from 20 yards.

The two goalscorers combined to make it 3-0 six minutes later when Barnett crossed for Lindfield to head home his second of the night.

Attacking the Kop end in the second half, the Reds went for it from the off; Adam Hammill bringing a good save out of the Carlisle goalie. It was only a momentary respite for the Cumbrians however. After 53 minutes it was 4-0 when Lindfield completed his hat-trick when he met a Paul Anderson corner inside the six yard box.

Adam Hammill added the fifth on 75 minutes when he picked the ball up inside his own half and with a Xabi Alonso type awareness saw the chance was on and lobbed the goalie for 5-0.

Hat-trick hero Craig Lindfield was then subsituted to a standing ovation and his replacement, Michael Nardiello added the sixth soon after with a fine run into the box and a confident finish into the back of the net.

Liverpool will meet Southampton in the FA Youth Cup semi-final.
