"We know rumours are flying around saying Gerard is going to quit, but this is the limit," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

"Gerard has a contract until 2005 and we have no reason to believe he won't see that through.

"People are asking all the time about his health, but I can tell you categorically he's fit and fine.

"All this speculation about Martin O'Neill is absolute rubbish. We've had no contact with Celtic or Martin O'Neill."
