Reds duo awarded medals

The Liverpool duo were part of the victorious England team of 1966 but were not in the team or on the bench for the final and so missed out on a medal. However, with the entire squad getting medals these days FIFA have decided to retrospectively award medals to the non-playing members of World Cup winning squads from 1930 to 1974.

"It's justice for all those players," said Fifa president Sepp Blatter.

"Richard Caborn brought it up by saying it's not right that only the 11 players got a medal.

"I believe that is right. We will go through our history records and reproduce medals, and we will give those medals to all those who have been in the squad and not just those who were on the field of play."
