Reds hit by Owen injury scare

The 23-year-old England international was replaced by Emile Heskey in the second-half of the Anfield clash and, although it has been confirmed that no break had took place, the player is a major doubt for England's crucial Euro 2004 qualifier in Turkey on October 11th.

"The good news is that the x-ray is clear but he will need to have a scan tomorrow," said Reds manager Gerard Houllier.

"It could be a minor injury or it could be something more serious. At this stage we just don't know.

"If it's just a muscle problem then I think he should be fit again in a few days and so he could be available for England next week. But if it's a ligament problem then he'll be out for a bit longer."
