Reds hoping for big crowd

Liverpool host Reading at Anfield in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup tonight and Academy coach John Owens is hoping Reds fans come out and support his side as they seek to defend their trophy.

"The effect that our fans have on the first team is fantastic," said Owens.

And our young boys know they can get an effect from just 1,000 fans. They all mention that they can hear them. It is not just a chant, but they can hear individual shouts of encouragement and it can make a difference to the young players to know the crowd is with them.

"I went to watch Reading against Coventry in the last round last week and they were 2-0 up very early. Then Coventry had a man sent off and the game was over. From what I saw it will be a tougher match than Chelsea.

"Chelsea had a number of star players who they have recruited from different places. But Reading are a very good team and there was a good spirit amongst them. So it will be a hard match and we will have to play at our best to get through."
