"Liverpool is a tremendous club but it is in a little bit of a funk because of the ownership scenario," he said.
"If you look at two models of how to buy a football club you would have to say Mr Lerner has done it the correct way.
"The owners at Liverpool have done it in a more obscure way but there have been plenty of British owners who have cocked up as well."
