"I was up at Celtic with John Barnes and there are some players - quality players - still there. The likes of Paul Lambert, Stilian Petrov and Henrik Larsson.
"Henrik is a goalscorer. It wouldn't matter what league he played in, he is going to score goals. And it would be to Liverpool's benefit if he wasn't available for those two games. But having said that, Liverpool are still capable of going on and winning the tie and maybe the competition as well," McDermott said.
Despite his immense respect for the Celtic playing staff, McDermott feels the players at Anfield are of a higher quality.
He added: I think Liverpool will just edge it. They have probably got that little bit more quality, but Celtic will be no pushovers, that is for certain."
