Reds lose again

Two early defensive mistakes saw the Reds 2-0 down after half an hour. There were plenty of positives to take from the game however, despite the defeat.

Jermaine Pennant made his first start and gave a man of the match performance. Jack Hobbs played the full 90 minutes at the back following his mistakes against Kaiserslauten and gave a solid display proving Saturday's errors were a one off.

Yesterday's game also saw the return of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Peter Crouch. Crouch did get the ball in the back of the net following some good play from Gerrard and Pennant but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside.
