Despite being favourites to lift the title, they were beaten by Chelsea in the semi-final at Sheffield's Hallam Arena, losing out on penalties in a closely-fought game.
Chelsea went on to beat Wolves in the final, but Alan Kennedy's men will be back next year to try to win the trophy back.
