Reds name league squad

Last updated : 02 September 2010 By Al Campbell

Under new guidelines for this season clubs can only name a 25 man squad which must include eight homegrown players. Homegrown players are those, of any nationality, who have been affiliated with the FA or FAW for three seasons or 36 months prior to their 21st birthday. The squad can also be supplemented by an unlimited number of players under the age of 21.

Liverpool have named a 21 man squad which is as follows:

Home Grown Players:

Jamie Carragher
Joe Cole
Stephen Darby
Steven Gerrard
Glen Johnson
Brad Jones
Paul Konchesky
Jay Spearing

Non home grown players:

Daniel Agger
Fabio Aurelio
Ryan Babel
Milan Jovanovic
Dirk Kuyt
Sotirios Kyrgiakos
Lucas Leiva
Raul Meireles
Christian Poulsen
Pepe Reina
Maxi Rodriguez
Martin Skrtel
Fernando Torres

Since they are under the age of 21 the likes of Daniel Pacheco, Martin Kelly, Jonjo Shelvey, Danny Wilson, Nathan Ecclestone, David Ngog etc don't have to be part of the named squad but can play in the league games any time they are required.
