Liverpool and Everton have both earned the praise of Home Secretary John Reid for signing up to Liverpool City Council's 'Respect the Club, Respect the Area' campaign.

"Tackling the menace of anti-social behaviour is something that we should all be concerned with. That is why Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs' support of Liverpool City Council's campaign is so important," said Reid.

"It is fantastic to see both clubs working alongside the council and the Community Justice Court in this unique partnership.

"This will send the clear message to fans that littering and disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated at football matches, outside football grounds or anywhere else in our communities.

"The city of Liverpool is one of 40 'Respect Areas' across the country taking the lead on delivering our Respect programme to tackle anti-social behaviour.

"This campaign is an excellent example of what can be achieved when communities work together."
