Officials from both clubs will meet with Sports minister Richard Caborn in London on Wednesday but Liverpool, who have already received planning permission, are keen to continue with their original plans for a new 55,000 seater New Anfield.

"We said recently we wanted to draw a line under the groundshare debate. That situation has not changed," insisted chief executive Rick Parry.

Rafael Benitez added to the debate, by insisting the club need to have thier own stadium.

"If you can stay on your own then that is better - otherwise supporters feel as though they are losing their identity," commented the Liverpool boss.
