Reds progress in Youth Cup

A strong Liverpool side that included reserve regulars Jack Hobbs, Miki Roque, Besian Idrizaj, Paul Anderson and the impressive Godwin Antwi saw off Cardiff to set up a fifth round clash with Ipswich Town.

The first half pretty even with nothing to write home about but the game came to life in the second half when the Reds began to dominate proceedings.

The second half was only four minutes old when Liverpool took the lead; Adam Hammill played a good through ball for Idrizaj who hammered the ball past the Cardiff goalkeeper in front of the Kop.

Liverpool doubled their advantage just after an hour when Jimmy Ryan scored what may be the best goal seen at Anfield this season. Cardiff cleared a Reds' attack and the ball fell to Ryan 25 yards out. Ryan didn't hesitate and curled in a shot into the top corner of the net to seal the game for the Reds.
