Kop talk understands that the Reds are prepared to pay up to £8million for the winger and that a bid in the region of £6million has already been offered to the Hammers.

Talking about today's speculation, Thompson said: "We're always interested in good players and Trevor Sinclair falls into that category.

"I have seen the speculation this morning and we are definitely not interested for the money that is being talked about."

The £10million asking fee is not only a concern to Liverpool but it's also a concern to the player.

Speaking recently, Sinclair said: "I believe the valuation is £10million. I think it is too much. It is going to make it impossible for me to move, but what can I do?"
