Reds return to winning ways

Patrick Kluivert gave Newcastle the lead just after the half hour mark but Liverpool had turned the game around six minutes later. A Titus Barmble own goal on 35 minutes brought the Reds level and Neil Mellor's fifth of the season on 38 minutes saw Liverpool go in front.

Milan Baros scored the third for Liverpool in the second half before Newcastle were reduced to ten men for the last ten minutes with the sending off of Lee Bowyer, which ended the game as a contest.
