A penalty conversion by Steven Gerrard set the Reds off after only four minutes, followed by a superb solo effort by Fernando Torres to make it 2-0.

Second half goals by Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel completed the rout and see Liverpool keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Rafael Benitez's side finish second in their group, so will face Spanish or Italian opposition in the quarter-final draw.
