Reds set up England win

Steven Gerrard scored England's opener two minutes into the second half when he headed home a David Beckham cross. Gerrard, playing as a second striker, had also helped England win a penalty in the first half that Frank Lampard missed.

Peter Crouch wrapped up the win when he came off the subsitute's bench to score the third after a clever turn. John Terry had scored England's second.

Jamie Carragher had played well in the holding midfield role in the first half before being switched to right back for the second half to accomodate the mediocre Owen Hagreaves.
