Reds still going for second

Liverpool had a confidence boosting 5-1 win in midweek and speaking ahead of the Newcastle game Rafa Benitez said his team will keep putting pressure on United as they look to overhaul their rivals.

"The most important thing for us is to keep going and try to win every game and keep close to Manchester United," insisted Benitez.

"It would be fantastic if we could finish in second place and we have more confidence now after the 5-1 win against Fulham. If you analyse our season, we have been much better in the Premiership and FA Cup and made a mistake which cost us in the Champions League.

"Newcastle are a big club with fantastic supporters and the atmosphere is always good up there. It won't be an easy game but my idea is always to try to win the three points."
