Benitez said: "I was happy with Djibril's performance and the role he played in the team. But sometimes he suffered because we tried to play too many short passes.
"Maybe Djibril needs a few more longer balls to bring out the best in his game. It is a question of getting to understand each other, how he wants the ball and how we play it, but that will develop in time.
"I was very happy with him and his transfer fee means nothing. I look at the player not the price tag. This was only his first game for his new team and it was a good start for him."
