Reds to appeal against red card

Luis Garcia was involved in a minor altercation with Hammers midfielder Hayden Mullins and both players ended up seeing red. Garcia can consider himself unlucky as he was more victim than perpetrator and so Liverpool will appeal against the decision.

"The referee understands the situation and he has said he will watch the video again," confirmed Rafael Benitez.

"It isn't easy for the referee, but the most important thing for me is that it wasn't a serious incident and both players have apologised to the referee and each other.

"We will wait and see what the referee's decision is after he has seen it again, but we will appeal because it is very hard for a player to miss a cup final after an incident like that. Luis is really disappointed and it is upto us to help him now."
