Reds told to forget Benfica

Liverpool need to defeat Benfica by two clear goals if they are to progress into the Champions League quarter finals. However, Rafa Benitez has warned his side they must put that into the back of their minds and concentrate instead on beating Charlton Athletic.

"It's always good to go into a big game with a win but I have told the players we need to be focused on Charlton and not think about Benfica," he said.

"I have bad memories of the game at Charlton because it was a strange game as we controlled the game for the first 40 minutes, only to concede two goals in five minutes.

"The only thing we can do is to analyse what went wrong and make sure we don't do the same mistakes this time around.

"Charlton are having a very good season. They started very well and are a team that can play good football. They have the two Bent's up front who are dangerous players."
