Reds tried to sign Duff

Duff has been told he can leave Chelsea and is on the verge of signing for Newcastle. However, Liverpool tried to hijack that transfer and bring Duff to Anfield according to the Guardian and the Mirror this morning. Both papers report that the Reds were unsuccessful in their attempt.
