Reds try to get Blackburn game moved

The game clashes with the annual Hillsborough Memorial Service so Liverpool are trying to find a new date for the match. Originally the game was to take place at 5.15pm so it would not clash with the service but now that the Reds are out of the Champions League, Chief Executive Rick Parry is hoping a new date can be found for the game.

"This is an issue we were aware of right at the start of the season and that's why we contacted the Hillsborough Families' Support group last June and they said they accepted that, sadly, one day it might be an inevitability that we'd have to play on April 15th," Parry told the official site.

"We are aware of the significance of the day and, as I said at the AGM, the solution we came up with was the best of a very bad range at that time.

"When we were progressing in the FA Cup and the Champions League the problem of finding a new date got bigger.

"Now we are out of Europe, there may be some scope to look once again but it's not just our fixtures to consider, it's Blackburn's as well and this is their home fixture at the end of the day.

"Even at this stage, if there's a chance to revisit it then I'm prepared to do so and we have already been in touch with the Premier League and Blackburn to ask the question."
