A-League side Perth Glory wanted the Reds to travel to Australia after their Far East tour for a friendly game and reports down under suggest they's offered the club £1m to play at the Patersons Stadium on July 19th.

However, the extra travel demands, would have meant the players facing an extra 2,500 mile trip to Australia from Malaysia and then a 9,000 mile journey back to Liverpool and so the club has turned the offer down.

"They said that they weren't going to come but we've gone back to them and we’ve upped the ante," said Perth Glory owner Tony Sage.

"They did say they had some concerns about the travel. If it's a football decision only, it won’'t be happening. If they have a change of heart it would be fantastic."
