Rafael Benitez rang the changes as Liverpool strolled to a comfortable 4-0 win over Sheffield United at Anfield yesterday afternoon.

Jamie Carragher, Steve Finnan, John Arne Riise and Steven Gerrard were the only players in yesterday's starting line up who also started against Barcelona in midweek as Rafa Benitez rotated his squad.

Jerzy Dudek came in for his first Premiership game of the season as Pepe Reina's wife was due to give birth. Sami Hyypia came in for Agger while Javier Mascherano partnered Gerrard in the centre of Liverpool's midfield. Mark Gonzalez and Jermaine Pennant were on the wings while Peter Crouch and Robbie Fowler led the line up front.

Two penalties dispatched by Fowler after Gerrard was twice brought down in the box gave the Reds a 2-0 lead at the break. Liverpool were controlling the game without ever reaching their best form.

Sami Hyypia scored his first of the season twenty minutes from the end and then Steven Gerrard wrapped things up three minutes later to keep the Reds in third and move them to within three points of second placed Chelsea.
