Regular football key to Warnock move

Liverpool fan Stephen Warnock admitted it was difficult to leave the Reds but he admitted he had to go if he was to get regular first team football.

"When you grow up supporting Liverpool as a lad and then you get to play for the team it is a great experience and you never expect to leave. But when you are at a big club like Liverpool it is always at the back of your mind that someday you might have to move on to play regularly," said the defender.

"So I'm not upset about leaving because I know I'm coming to a fantastic club.

"You look at Blackburn last year and they were fantastic in getting into Europe and that is the aim again. That is what I want to be doing, playing in the Premiership and in Europe.

"Blackburn are on a great run at the moment and I understand that it will be a challenge to get into the side. I'm not expecting to come here and walk straight into the team, I know I'm going to have to work hard and prove to the manager why he bought me."
