Torres has impressed already this season, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances but Pepe Reina says the best is yet to come.

"Fernando has been in good form for the last two or three weeks and he is becoming an important player for us. He has got pace, he is finishing his chances well now, and he is still only 23," said the Liverpool goalkeeper.

"He has the qualities to play at a high level at the very top of English football because he is quick, he is strong, he is clever, has brilliant movement and is aggressive against big defenders.

"He is a target player who gives us a lot of things. Now let's see if he can get even better.

"Sometimes it can take time to adapt to playing a different league, but for Fernando it has been easier than some of the other players.

"It's important for him to keep on learning, and he's still only 23 so there is a long way to go for him.

"I played many times against him in Spain and I think I am one of his favourite goalkeepers because I have conceded many goals against him, but thankfully he is becoming my friend now!"
