Reserves beaten

It was the Reds' first reserve game at Wrexham's Racecourse ground and Liverpool played well, but ultimately were unable to turn chances into goals.

The star for the Reds was Igor Biscan, who is looking more and more likely to start against Spurs on Saturday. His central midfield partner Jon Welsh also impressed reserve team boss Hugh McAuley.

"We passed the ball well at times and Igor and John Welsh worked ever so hard in midfield but unfortunately we let ourselves down at times in the final third of the field." said McAuley.

"I thought James Smith and Danny O'Donell from the Academy did well as a centre half pairing and Igor Biscan once again had a good game.

"John Welsh worked hard and gave an energetic display and showed a good attitude. His time will come again if he keeps working hard and showing the desire that is needed."
