Reserves beaten

The reserves were deservedly beaten by a strong Middlesbrough reserve side last night. Former Charlton striker Jason Euell scored the only goal of the game.

Italian goalkeeper Daniele Padelli made his reserves debut last night and gave an impressive performance. Were it not for some very good saves by Padelli the result could have been much worse for Gary Ablett's side.

Liverpool suffered an early blow when midfielder Francisco Duran hobbled off after 17 minutes with a knee injury. Things got worse when striker Besian Idrizaj was sent off on 65 minutes for picking up two yellow cards in quick succession.

The only plus points for the Reds on the night were the performances of Padelli and Nabi l Zhar, and Ryan Flynn and Jay Spearing both returning from injury ahead of Saturday's FA Youth Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle.
