The biggest boost for the Reds was the return from injury of new signing Antonio Nunez who played an hour at Belle Vue before being withdrawn. Nunez played on the right side of midfield, creating a few chances for others as well as coming close to scoring himself.

Scottish winger Robbie Foy got the Liverpool goal and goalkeeper Paul Harrison was man of the match.
