Reserves draw

A goal from Danny Guthrie was enough to earn Gary Ablett's side a 1-1 draw with Blackburn at Morecambe's Christie Park on Monday night.

Liverpool started the game poorly and were a goal down after only three minutes. A free kick was floated into the Reds' penalty area and when Godwin Antwi challenged the Blackburn forward for the header, the ball came off the Liverpool defender for an own goal.

The Reds fought back however, and were almost level minutes later. Nabil El Zhar sent Adam Hammill free down the right wing and his cross was almost turned home by Craig Lindfield.

It was El Zhar who set up captain Danny Guthrie for the equaliser two minutes before half time. El Zhar crossed the ball into the box and Guthrie was on hand to volley home the leveller.

El Zhar could have won the game for Liverpool late on after taking on and beating a couple of defenders, bu his shot was well saved by the Blackburn goalkeeper.
