Reserves in action

The second string play their first home game of the season at Tranmere Rovers' Prenton Park tonight. John McMahon is hoping for a win against Bolton after his side unluckily lost their first game away at Backburn last week.

"It's always difficult losing games and there's a lot we can improve on from last week," said the reserve team coach.

"In spells we looked bright and lively but we paid the price for taking our foot off the gas.

"We like to be thorough in our preparation and I went to watch Bolton reserves take on Manchester United last week to get a sneak preview of what we are likely to come up against.

"They are a hard working team and it will be a real good test for us. We need to match their work ethic on the night and hopefully we can come out on top.

"We can work harder as individuals and as a team. We are always striving for perfection and we always want to improve. Hopefully we can keep doing that and get the three points."
