Reserves tonked

Jerzy Dudek played his second game since returning from injury but could not help the Reds from suffering a heavy defeat. In fact, if it wasn't for Dudek the result could have been much worse.

It was former Red David Thompson who gave Liverpool's second string so much trouble last night. Thompson dominated the midfield and was only denied a goal thanks to a couple of good saves from Dudek.

With David Raven, Zak Whitbread and Darren Potter part of the first team squad for Tuesday's defeat at Crystal Palace, Academy players Michael Nardiello and Charlie Barnett were given their first reserve starts. Centre-half James Tunnicliffe who is on trial from Stockport County was given a 45 minute run out in the second half.

Liverpool almost opened the scoring through a David Mannix free kick after 24 minutes but only two minutes later the Reds were 1-0 down. Blackburn made it 2-0 six minutes into the second half and added the third six minutes from the end.
