Reserves win

Zak Whitbread and Robbie Foy scored to put the Reds 2-0 up before a late Middlesbrough goal made for a tense finale. Overall though, Liverpool were worthy winners.

Scott Carson impressed again in goal while Stephen Warnock, Jon Welsh, Darren Potter and Anthony Le Tallec all played well. The only poor performance was from Antonio Nunez whose place in the team is now under threat with the return of Vladimir Smicer who got a second half run out and Jon Ostemobor who has been deployed as a right-winger in his recent appearances and who set up Robbie Foy for the Reds' second goal.
