Liverpool beat Wigan 2-0 last night to earn their first league win under new coach Gary Ablett.

Liverpool were on top throughout and had chances to open the scoring before Paul Anderson did just that. Craig Lindfield sent Besian Idrizaj scampering down the right wing on 33 minutes and the Austrian under 21's international crossed for Paul Anderson to steer the ball home and give the Reds a first half lead.

Idrizaj doubled the Reds' lead minutes into the second half when Lindfield again turned provider and played a through ball that sent Idrizaj free in the penalty area. Idrizaj's first shot was saved but he buried the rebound to wrap up a first league win of the season at the fifth attempt.
