Two goals from Craig Lindfield gave the Reds victory over Leeds at the Kirkby Academy yesterday afternoon.

Fabio Aurelio played the first half as he worked on his match fitness after his return from injury but other than the Brazilian it was a fairly inexperienced side put out by Gary Ablett.

"I was very pleased with our performance and Craig scored two superb goals," the reserve team coach told the club's official website.

"For his first goal Nabil El Zhar combined well with Paul Anderson and Craig got on the end of the cross and finished really well. Then for his second goal Craig beat the Leeds defender and curled the ball past the keeper into the far corner of the net.

"It was difficult at times in the first half because of the wind but in the second half myself and Hughie McAuley were delighted with the lads and we played some really good stuff.

"The only disappointing thing from our point of view was the goal we conceded from a corner which could have been avoided but we have made a great start to the year and the attitude from the players was first class."
