The reserves earned their first win of the season when they beat Wigan at the JJB Stadium on Wednesday. Jordy Brouwer, Nabil El Zhar and Ray Putterill scored the goals that gave Gary Ablett's side a comfortable victory.

Brouwer scored his first goal for the club after five minutes when Stephen Darby's cross was headed into his path by Craig Lindfield and the Dutchman was on hand to head home.

Liverpool had other chances in the first half with Sebastian Leto, Jay Spearing, and Craig Lindfield all had chances to double the Reds' lead. Instead the Reds had to wait until the second half to make it 2-0 when El Zhar reacted quickest to Spearing's back header following a Leto cross to poke the ball in for 2-0.

Subsitute Ray Putterill finished the game off when he connected with another excellent cross from Leto and fired the ball in low and hard for 3-0.
