Gary Ablett's side strolled to a 3-0 over Everton at the Halliwell Jones Stadium last night thanks to an own goal and two more from Krisztian Nemeth. Last night's double strike means the Hungarian has scored four times in two appearances.

Liverpool took an early lead last night when Nabil El Zhar played in Ronald Huth who was still in the Everton box following a corner. Huth's shot across goal was going wide until it was put into his own net by Blues defender Patrick Boyle.

The Reds dominated the half with El Zhar and Nemeth having the best chances to double their lead. However, Liverpool went in at the interval only 1-0 up.

There was a penalty shout after 56 minutes when El Zhar appeared to be brought down by Everton goalie John Ruddy but the referee awarded a goal kick. That was a temporary respite for Everton.

It was 2-0 a minute later thanks to a fine solo goal from Nemeth. The striker received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box before ghosting past two defenders and slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The game was over as a contest after an hour when Huth flicked on a corner and Nemeth was on hand to knee the ball over the line and make it 3-0.

Everton had a couple of good chances in the last ten minutes but debutant keeper Dean Bouzanis managed to keep a clean sheet.
