The reserves opened their home campaign with a 3-1 win over Bolton at Tranmere's Prenton Park last night.

Gerado Bruna gave the Reds a first half lead when his 15th minute strike was deflected into the net. Subsitute Jordy Brouwer made it 2-0 on 55 minutes, a minute after coming on, when he chased down a back pass and saw the goalkeeper's attempted clearance come off him and roll into an empty net.

Bolton suddenly came to life and pulled a goal back five minutes later. They then began to push for an equaliser but that left gaps at the back and Liverpool wrapped the game up on 80 minutes when sub Alex Kacaniklic fired in the rebound after Nathan Ecclestone's original shot had been saved.
