John McMahon's side beat Ashton Town 4-0 in the quarter final of the Liverpool Senior Cup thanks to goals from Alex Kacaniklic, Jordy Brouwer, Jay Spearing and Emmanuel Mendy.
"The biggest thing for me was the attitude the players showed, which was first class," said McMahon.
"When you come to grounds like this you have got to work hard and compete then let your ability take over, which it did. The lads were fantastic and the commitment was fantastic.
"We took our goals really well and it should have been a lot more with the chances we had. Our build-up play was really good and we created a lot of chances.
"Jay led by example. He is a fantastic lad to have with the squad because everything he does is an example to everyone.
"Plessis was terrific and showed a great attitude."
