Reserves win mini-derby

A Nathan Ecclestone penalty was enough to give the Reds a 1-0 away win over a thuggish Everton side last night. How the Blues finished the game with eleven players still on the pitch is a mystery. They couldn't cope with Liverpool and so just tried to kick them off the park.

The Reds took a deserved lead a minute before half time. Ecclestone was blatantly tripped inside the box, got up and scored the resultant penalty, capping an excellent week for the striker in which he also made two first team appearances.

It was more of the same second half; Liverpool played all the football, Everton hacked and kicked and escaped with yellow cards from a gutless referee.

The Bitters had a chance to level second half when Robbie Threlfall handled the ball inside the area but the Bitters' penalty came back the post.

The win was well deserved as only one team tried to play football last night, and it keeps John McMahon's side top of the league.
