Ridsdale: No Liverpool bid accepted

Last updated : 10 July 2002 By Kop Talk News

Leeds United chief Peter Ridsdale claims no bid for Lee Bowyer has been accepted by his club.

Ridsdale, allegedly known for telling the odd porkie or two, also claims he is unaware of Bowyer speaking to Liverpool.

"If Phil Thompson says Liverpool are talking to Lee that is news to me," said Ridsdale.

"I have not accepted any bid from any football club for any player. Lee is on the transfer list and so there will always be speculation where his future will lie.

"There is a lot of talk that I am trying to drive him out of this football club but I would wish that Lee would stay and I hope he does. If he doesn't then we will have to see who is interested in buying him."
