Rivaldo reveals Liverpool talks

The 31-year-old former European Player of the Year has failed to reach the sparkling form that made him such a hit in La Liga with both Deportivo La Coruna and Barcelona since he made the switch to Serie A, but he may now be given a final chance to illustrate his undoubted skills in the Premiership with Liverpool.

Rivaldo said: "It would appeal to me a lot to return to Barca, but I know that is not possible. The club are investing in young players and I am 31.

"My future? It's true I'm talking to Liverpool, but until the negotiation is finished I can't say anything.

"I work really hard in training where I always give my very best," he said. "However, I'm never picked by the coach. This is something that is really troubling me, especially because I don't know why I'm being overlooked. I feel as if people respect me here with the Selecao.

"That wasn't the case at Barcelona though and it isn't the case at Milan. Some say I'm too old for this side but the fans and the experts know my true worth."
