Robbie ready for first team action

Fowler has only made a couple of subsitute appearances for the Reds as he works on regaining his match fitness but the Kop favourite says he will be ready when Rafa Benitez calls on him.

"I've got to listen to the manager. What he says goes, as far as I'm concerned. I need to wait and bide my time and make sure I'm ready when he gives me the shout. I'll have to be patient at the minute," said Fowler.

"We're on a bit of a bad run, but the players we've got here are more than capable of getting out of the rut. It's not ideal for us with so many important games coming up, but there's a long way to go. Hopefully, sooner rather than later we'll get out of it.

"When my chance comes, it comes. It's the manager's decision which is final on that. I'll wait for my turn.

"The way everyone has given me so much support since I came back has been unbelievable and I know everyone wants me to get in the team and score as soon as possible.

"I'm just sorry I'm not scoring loads of goals yet, but the response towards me has been breathtaking. It's just the results which haven't gone so well."
