Robson raves over Gerrard

The Anfield skipper was at his sparkling best yet again to earn the Reds a final day draw with the Geordies, and Sir Bobby Robsin has only the highest praise for his undoubted quality.

Robson said: "Poetry in motion, he (Gerrard) is a machine. I hated him, he was that good. He is not going to look out of place in the company of Zidane and Viera, don't worry about that. The thing I love about him is the way you never see him going backwards. He is always moving forward, usually at pace, looking to exploit space and hurt teams, like he did us.

He has the vision of the pass, he has dribbling and running ability, and his final ball is great, always penetrating. I wish he had gone off at half-time. It was like he was on a one-man mission to kill us off. I love him, though, just love him."
