Roof to be closed for Final clash

Many fans will see this decision as a favourable omen ahead of this Sunday's match as the roof was also closed when the Reds defeated United in the 2001 Charity Shield.

Football League Spokesman John Nagle said: "The occasion lends itself well to the roof being closed. In February or March, the weather forecasts are not too good.

"In a sense, this is the winter cup final and has a slightly different feel to the summer cup final, which is often played in bright sunshine.

"The play-off final was a great success. There was a phenomenal atmosphere and we are happy to repeat that."
