The Manchester United boss refused to sell the Argentinian defender to his arch rivals and instead accepted a move to Real Madrid during the summer.

But rumours from Spain suggest the 29-year-old centre-back may well be allowed to leave in January, with Liverpool favourites to sign him if that were to happen.
