Rush believes in Heskey

The former Liverpool striker took his first training session yesterday and he believes the poor form of Heskey is due to the striker's lack of confidence.

Rush, speaking to the clubs official website, said: "Emile Heskey has a lot to offer Liverpool. He has proved over the last couple of seasons what he is capable of when he is on top form and I'm sure he still has an important role to play in Gerard Houllier's plans."

"Stories linking him with a move out of Anfield have gained momentum since the transfer window opened. That speculation won't help his confidence, particularly when he is not one of the first names automatically on the team sheet."
