Rush eager for Owen return

The mercurial 23-year-old has scored seven of the club's paltry tally of twelve Premiership goals this season and Rush admits that his Anfield colleagues are sorely missing his crucial presence.

Rush said: "You hear people saying injuries are no excuses for defeats and you accept that. But you still have to admit luck hasn't gone our way.

"Could you imagine Arsenal's results if Henry, Vieira and Campbell were all out for any length of time together? Or Manchester United without Van Nistelrooy, Keane and Ferdinand? It would have an impact in the same way Liverpool have suffered with the loss of Owen, Hamann and Carragher. Michael Owen's return to fitness can't come soon enough."
