Rush: If Houllier goes so will Owen

The former Liverpool legend, who now coaches the strikers at Melwood, believes that both Owen and Houllier will still be with the club next season.

"I work with Michael and I know that he loves this club and appreciates what Liverpool have done for him," he said.

"He respects the manager enormously and it goes a long way as a player if you like the manager. I don't think Michael would be very happy if anything happened to Gerard Houllier.

"There is a special affinity at Anfield between the boss and Michael and also between him and Steven Gerrard."

"It would certainly help Michael's decision if Gerard remained and I believe that both of them will be here next season.

"I think we will achieve Champions' League football and that is what Michael wants."
