"I work with Michael and I know that he loves this club and appreciates what Liverpool have done for him," he said.
"He respects the manager enormously and it goes a long way as a player if you like the manager. I don't think Michael would be very happy if anything happened to Gerard Houllier.
"There is a special affinity at Anfield between the boss and Michael and also between him and Steven Gerrard."
